About Atitlán Nature Birding Tours

Local Experts in Birdwatching at Lake Atitlán, Guatemala

We are Atitlán Nature Birding Tours, a local birdwatching company specializing in bird-watching tours at Lake Atitlán and the Guatemalan highlands. Founded and operated by native guides from Santiago Atitlán, we offer authentic birdwatching experiences in one of the most biodiverse destinations in Central America.

Why Choose Atitlán Nature Birding Tours?

Certified Local Guides: We are natives of Santiago Atitlán with birdwatching certification. We speak Spanish, English, and Tz’utujil (local Maya language), with knowledge of the terrain to provide the best experience.

Exclusive Access: As residents of Lake Atitlán, we access remote areas in cloud forests, volcanoes, and natural reserves, including the Rey Tepepul Natural Reserve, Corazón del Bosque, and San Pedro Volcano.

Sustainable Tourism: We promote environmental conservation and support local Maya communities. We seek to minimize environmental impact and maximize your experience.

Excellent Reviews: We have outstanding reviews on Google and recommendations from international ornithologists who have enjoyed our professional bird-watching tours.

Best Time for Birdwatching

Lake Atitlán offers excellent birdwatching year-round thanks to its temperate climate and altitude (1,500–3,500 m above sea level). November to April: High season with dry weather and migratory birds. February to June: Nesting season with maximum reproductive activity. July to October: Spectacular green landscapes, more exclusive tours with personalized attention, and resident birds in full activity.
